Talent Night 2009

Last night we held the first Kids Talent Night at our church! We mixed in something else new - Taste of Atlanta West!! It turned out great - the food & entertainment! There was 19 acts all together and they all did an awesome job - I was amazed at the talent! It was ages 4-14 and we had some sing, sign language, play instruments (drums, keyboard & saxophone), Bible scripture quoting/preaching and acting. We even had karate, riding unicycles and whistling! It was a wide range of unbelievable talent!!

The church gave a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes. The audience got to vote for their favorite performance! The prizes were 1st - $75, 2nd - $50 & 3rd - $25.

The 1st place winner was Cameron Osborn. He is eight years old and he is in Bible Quizzing at our church. He decided to quote some of the scripture from the book of Luke for his talent. Well, let's just say he got a little annointed!! He did some preaching, the audience was on their feet! He started out acting like a preacher, but in the end I think we could all see a future preacher in the making!!! Go Cameron!

The 2nd place winner was our very own Dylan Robinson! He played the drums and did a great job! Brandon Marin (he gives Dylan drum lessons every week) sang & played his guitar while Dylan played along. He kept the beat very well - we are very proud of him!!! He didn't seem to have any problems getting in front of everyone and did a great job!

The 3rd place winner was Corey Douglas. He played the keyboard and was AWESOME! He did a classical piece and it was great!

Over all, I think the night was a great success! Allowing these kids to get up in front of people and use their talent. These kids will definitely be used very, very soon in our Chipz services! Russell and I are very excited about the "up and coming" musicians/singers that are wanting to use their talents for God.

I wouldn't leave you guys without a couple pics of our "little drummer boy"! I was running around crazy making sure everything was going ok, but took a moment to run on stage right before the curtain opened to snap a couple of pics!!

This is Dylan - not a nervous bone in his body!! About to perform for almost 200 people. All smiles for the camera!
This is Dylan and Brandon Marin. He has been doing a great job teaching Dylan!

This is a picture of the huge "checks" that we had made (thanks, Jana!) for the 3 winners. This is Dylan's. Of course, he has no idea what it means but he was excited anyway! One of the contestants, Marissa Puckett (5 yrs old and did an unbelievable job singing "Jesus Take the Wheel" - she knew EVERY word!) She did not understand why we just gave paper to all the winners! LOL! Too cute!

The Talent Night was a fundraiser for the children's ministry and it was a huge success! Thanks to all who had any part in this great night! We are so proud of ALL of our kids - they all did a GREAT job!!

Brotherly Love

Every night after the boys have their bath, they both eat a snack and drink their milk. They get all snuggly in their pj's and it is a really fun time here at our house. Russell and I love this time with the boys right before they go to bed. Tonight, they got all cuddled up together in the chair with Daddy. Mommy just had to get a few pictures of them actually loving on each other and sitting together without pounding on each other! :)

Dylan wanted to hold Maddox in his arms and he told me to get Maddox's diapie because he was tired! too cute!

Then they got silly - Dylan was tickling Maddox and they were both laughing!

Back to sleepy stage! Dylan was so happy to get to hold his little brother! You can see Maddox was just chillin' out and happy to have his thumb!

A "Royal" Couple!

I have to tell you, being married to Russell Robinson for almost 10 years now, has been a very exciting adventure! Basically it is like being married to a grown kid. He LOVES kids, along with my love for kids, I think were a perfect match! We are the Ch.I.P.Z. Leaders at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church. This is ages 4-9. We have such a great time and consider this a privilege and an honor to lead such an important age group. But I have to tell you, it gets us in some interesting situations. Like last night, we were a King & Queen for the American Heritage Girls annual father/daughter banquet. This year the theme was Princess Ball. So we were asked to be the King & Queen for the ball. We had a GREAT time meeting all of the little princess' all dressed up and so excited to be out on a date with their daddies. The gym was decorated so beautiful and it was a very special night for a lot of little girls (and older girls as well)! And doesn't every girl (including me) love a chance to get all dressed up?

Measuring God's Love

This post is actually not anything about my boys and no pictures to share! Hope your not too disappointed!! Just wanted to share a pretty cool experience and a "first" for me. Our church school, Atlanta West Christian Academy, has chapel once a month. They usually have someone come in and speak a short message to the kids, sing songs, etc. (Sort of a mini service) This month, they asked ME to speak! I know, I know - I thought they were just kidding at first! Actually, I thought they were calling to ask Russell but nope, they asked me. My first thought was "No way, not gonna do it!" but then I thought, "No, I can do this". Over the last few years I have really come a long ways in the boldness department. I used to be pretty shy, but now those that know me - not so much anymore! I can talk your ears off!! :) But I still have this fear of talking in front of people. But lately, I've been feeling like I can do more than I do now, especially for God. Maybe, because our Pastor kicked off the new year with the theme "Wide Open". So, I spoke this morning at chapel! I lost a whole night's sleep for a 5-8 minute message, but I did it!! And it was surprisingly fulfilling, it felt really good after I finished. I spoke on measuring God's love. They were going with the Valentine's theme and wanted me to speak on God's love.

Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with you! Don't be surprised when you see my name on the program in a couple of years to speak at National Ladies Conference!! LOL! Totally a JOKE!! :) Also, just an encouragement to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while, and try something you have never done before. You might be surprised at the things you will enjoy that you never thought you would!!

That's all for now! Enjoy your day! Live your life WIDE OPEN for God!!
